Tears For Fears

Growing up in the 80's was awesome.  The music was amazing and the songs were to me super good.  There was one band in the mid 1980's who really blew me away with there music.  The group I'm talking about is Tears For Fears. The album I really enjoy the most and you can buy it on here at my blog is Songs from the Big Chair.  I still listen to the songs today.  Most people may remember this group for the songs Shout and Everybody Wants To Rule The World.  This group put alot of emotion in there songs and other songs I enjoy from this album are Head Over Heels and The Working Hour which I wish were on 20th century masters best of.  Tears for Fears to me had some inspirational songs.  One of the songs that to me comes to mind is the song Sowing the Seeds Of Love.  I won't say all of the lyric in this song but there is a part in the song where it says time to eat all your words swallow your pride open your eyes.  I like that lyric and find it awesome.  In 1991 Tears for Fears broke up due to various differences between Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith and also Smith's marriage breaking up.  In 2000 though Tears For Fears reunites again.  I would actually like to see this group in concert but Im not sure if they have any U.S. tours.  I wonder how many people remember this group.  I think this is one of the greatest groups of the 80's and I will never forget the songs Shout, Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Head Over Heels and The Working Hour.   So if you love Tears for Fears like I do since back or stand up and shout shout let it all out. 

Reo Speedwagon

In 1967 American Rock Band Reo Speedwagon was formed.  Reo Speedwagon is led by singer Kevin Cronin.  Kevin Cronin has an amazing voice in rock music.  I remember hearing him singing the song Keep On Lovin You off of the Hi-Infidelity album.  That is such a very moving song.  Reo Speedwagon really knows how to pour our some of the great love ballads from Keep On Lovin You to Can't Fight This Feeling to In My Dreams.  I remember the first time I heard REO Speedwagon was the album Nine Lives.  Nine Lives and Hi-Infidelity are my favorite two Reo Speedwagon albums. Which one do I like better thats really a tough one because they are both so really good and have a lot of great songs on them. 1980 Reo Speedwagon had there biggest success with the album Hi-Infidelity which spun off four chart topping singles.  Those four chart topping singles are Keep On Lovin You which went to number one, Take It On The Run which went to number five,  In Your Letter which went to number 20, and Don't Let Him Go which was at #24 on the singles charts.  I had a chance when I was a kid to so and see this band in concert but I passed it up to so and see my grandparents .  I really could kick myself for passing on the opportunity to see this band in concert.  If they come back to Missouri I hope i can find a way to afford the tickets to go and see this band live.  They have so many good songs its hard to name them all.  I will just name a few of the really best which are "Keep On Lovin You", "Take It On The Run".  "Back On The Road Again",  "Can't Fight This Feeling" , " In My Dreams",  "Don't Let Him Go",  "Only The Strong Survive",  "Keep The Fire Burnin"   "Ridin The Storm Out"  , "Time For Me To Fly are just many of there greatest songs. 

Heart

First was successful in Canada then started finding success in America is the band Heart which I'm talking about.  The band today consists of sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson.  In 1977 rumors were going around than Ann and Nancy Wilson were lesbian lovers.  This rumor frustrated Ann and she began returning to her hotel room to write lyrics for one of Heart's biggest hits.  What is the song Im talking about I'm talking about Barracuda. I think if I were a musician and rumors started about me I'd go and write a frustration song too.  Besides Barracuda there were some other songs Heart had in the 70's that were big successes.  One of those songs was Crazy On You which went to #35 in 1976.   I love hearing the song  Crazy on You it rocks. Another one of their songs and it went to even bigger success was Magic Man.  Magic Man went to #9 in 1976.  In 1978 I remember another song I really enjoy listening to still today.  That song Im talking about is called Straight On.  The first time though I heard the band Heart was in 1985 when they came out with the album "Heart".  This album was amazing and I remember the first song I heard from it in 1985 was What About Love when I turned on my MTV.   I still jam to this song today.  What about Love don't you want someone to care about you, What About Love don't let it slip away.  You know the rest of it hopefully if you've heard it. The self titled album also spun off some other really great singles.  Never which went to #4.  There biggest hit from this album was and went to number one was "These Dreams".  Heart in 1987 came out with another album called Bad Animals.  This album also spun off a number one single called Alone.  Bad Animals had a song called Who Will You Run To which went to number seven on the charts.   In the early 90's Heart made another big comeback.  They had a new album called "Brigade.  Brigade had three songs in the top 25.  Those songs included "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You which was #2.  Another song called Stranded which was #12 and I Didn't Want To Need You which was #24 on the charts.  Heart came back again in 2010 with a new album called Red Velvet Car.   So Heart is back and playing today.  I personally though like there classic songs. Heart will always be a great classic rock band with great songs.  So come to my blog and buy The Heart album I have on here.  I encourage you to place that order. The Cars

In the late 1970's a new wave American Rock Band came onto the scene. The band I'm talking about is The Cars.  The Cars is led by lead singer Ric Ocasek.   The Cars originated from Boston Massachusetts.  When most people think of the group The Cars what song pops in your mind.  I think many people would probably think of the song "Just What I Needed"..  There are other great songs that The Cars had that I really loved.  Some of those songs include "Let's Go",  "Dangerous Type" ,  "Since You're Gone",  "Magic",  "Drive" ,   You Might Think",  "Why Can't I Have You"  are just many of there great songs that I like.   The Cars consisted of Ric Ocasek,  Greg  Hawkes,  Elliot Easton, David Robinson and  Benjamin Orr.  Benjamin Orr is no longer with The Cars.  In 2000 Benjamin Orr died with pancreatic cancer.    I remember in the 1980's growing up and watching MTV.  The first song I ever heard by the Cars was  " Magic".  I remember thinking wow I like this song.  It's fun and it's catchy.  Another video I really enjoyed and thought was an odd video was for the song "You Might Think".      I actually thought I would never hear anything from "The Cars" again.  On May 10 of this year The Cars are back with a brand new album.  The name of the album is called "Move Like This".  You can buy this album here on my blog.  I encourage you to place your order for this album today.   The Cars to me are one of the most interesting rock band of all time.  I love to sit around the house relaxing listening to "The Cars greatest songs.   Some of the songs stick in my head a bit.  One is She's a lot like you The Dangerous Type.    If I want to mellow out I listen to the songs "Drive" , "Since You're Gone"  or "Why Can't I Have You".   I think I"m going to finish this post and listen to "The Cars".  I encourage you to send me your comments and get the conversation going.    Thank you for reading my classic rock blog.  If you love "The Cars" as much as I do then I encourage you to turn it up and rock out.  Let's Go I like the nightlife baby she says.

Lynard Skynard

1964 in Jacksonville Florida one of the most interesting classic rock bands form.  That band I'm talking about is Lynard Skynard.  One of the most popular skynard songs hit the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1973 and remained at #19.  What song am I talking about you may want to know?  That song is Free Bird.  I really enjoy listening to this song and I like the lyrics.  I'm as a free as a bird now and this bird you can not change.   August of 1974 the bands biggest breakout hit ever and many of you would know and still sing today was number #8 on the charts.  That song is Sweet Home Alabama.  I hear many of people still cranking that song up 37 years later because it's a great song.  I have always liked the album Gold and Platinum by Lynard Skynard because it had so many of there greatest songs ever on it.  It had songs like "Sweet Home Alabama",  "Tuesday's Gone",  "Simple Man",  "Free Bird", " What's Your Name", "Gimme Three Steps" "Gimme Back My Bullets and many more great songs.   What broke my heart was in 1977 when this band chartered Convair 240 ran out of gas and crashed into a forest in Gillsburg Mississippi.  This to me was and still is heartbreaking news in rock and roll history.  So all you Skynard fans get out your CD's, 8 tracks, 45's, Cassettes, Ipods or whatever you listen to Skynard on and crank up the southern rock.   I encourage you to leave your comments about this band.  What did you like about them?  What didn't you like about them?  What are your favorite songs of there music?   I thank you for reading my Classic Rock Blog.  I encourage you to go to the music stores on this blog and look around at the stores.  If you see some music you want to buy I encourage you to place your order today at the music stores on here.   Also remember to listen to your classic rock stations to have the chance to catch a Lynyrd Skynyrd song or two. 

Led Zeppelin

Formed in 1968 Led Zeppelin consisted of Jimmy Page who was on guitar, singer Robert Plant, John Bonham on drums and John Paul Jones on bass.  There style of rock to me sounds a lot between hard rock, heavy metal and some blues.  I remember when I was a kid my parents would crank up Zeppelin on there record player.  The songs I remember hearing alot where Black Dog, Rock And Roll, Stairway To Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid ( She's Just A Woman).  Rolling Stone maganize described Zeppelin as the heaviest band of all time.  The album Led Zeppelin IV is one of the best selling albums in music history at over 23 million in the United States alone.   I would love to see a CD Collection with Led Zeppelin 100 best songs.  That would be hours and hours of hard rocking , heavy metaling and blues sounding fun.   Today  many classic rock radio stations play Led Zeppelin on there channel.   The thing for me about Led Zeppelin is I can't remember the title of half of there songs because I rarely hear the title of the song mentioned in the song.  Some examples are Black Dog, and Immigrant Song are two that come to mind.  There probabaly are others I just can't think of them right now.   So if you still love Led Zeppelin today and don't have any of there music on CD.  I encourage you to go buy some of there music at the stores I have hear on my blog.  Led Zeppelin still rocks today and is better than most rockers we have today.  And she's buying the Stairway To Heaven.

Fleetwood Mac

In 1967 the British American Rock Band Fleetwood Mac came on the scene.   I don't remember hearing there earlier stuff from late 60's to mid 70's.  In 1977 Fleetwood Mac's best selling album Rumors came to light.  This album has so many great songs on it.  Some of those songs are "Second Hand News", " Dreams". "Don't Stop",  "You Can Go Your Own Way", "The Chain",  " You Make Lovin Fun" and "Gold Dust Woman.  The only song I didn't enjoy on this album was "Songbird" .  I just didn't like it as much as the rest of the songs.  My favorite song on that album was "The Chain".   The Rumors album has sold over 40 million copies worldwide.  I would consider this one of the greatest rock album in music history.  Fleetwood Mac had members like Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood and Christie McVie.   Besides songs off of the Rumors album there are many other Fleetwood Mac tracks I enjoy too.  I like songs like Everywhere, Hold Me, Save Me, Over My Head, Say That You Love Me, Rhiannon, Little Lies, Seven  Wonders, Sara and As Long As You Follow.  Fleetwood Mac to me will always be one of the greatest classic rock/ pop band of all time.  My parents had this album on record and I would love it when they would blast up the song "The Chain"  on it.   I got the CD and it is amazing sound now.   I seen that there was a best of Fleetwood Mac.  I was very disappointed because they left the song "Save Me"  off of it.  Many people may not remember the song "Save Me" but I do and like that song to this day.  I also heard that Fleetwood Mac is president's Bill Clinton's favorite band.  Fleetwood Mac does rock and even when I'm 70 I will be cranking up Fleetwood Mac .
