Aerosmith: A Band That Still Rocks Today

Formed in Boston Massachusetts in 1970, and sometimes nicknamed as "The Bad Boys from Boston, and America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band, Who am I talking about? I'm talking about American rock and roll group Aerosmith. Aerosmith lineup consists of lead singer and harmonica player Steven Tyler, Drummer Joey Kramer, Guitarist Ray Tabano, Guitarist Joe Perry and Bassist Tom Hamilton. Even though the boys of Aerosmith started in 1970, their success didn't really begin until 1975 when they broke into the mainstream. In 1975 rock band Aerosmith broke into mainstream with the album "Toys in the Attic". There was two big hits from the "Toys in the Attic" album. The two big hits were "Sweet Emotion" and "Walk This Way". "Sweet Emotion was Aerosmith's first top 40 hit, followed by "Dream On which was #6 and "Walk This Way" was a top 10 hit for "The Bad Boys from Boston". When I listen to Aerosmith I think of the songs " Walk This Way", "Dream On", "Janie's Got A Gun", "Love In An Elevator", "What It Takes" and "Sweet Emotion". The genre of music Aerosmith could be classified as hard rock, heavy metal, and blues rock. Through the 1970's Aerosmith toured and charted a string of Hot 100 Singles. What song or songs from this great rock band do you like to listen to today? Send me your comments on one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. In 1986 lead singer Steven Tyler completed a successful drug rehabilitation program. Aerosmith's lead singer in 1990 appeared on a "Wayne's World sketch on Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 1990. In 1976 an Irish rock band from Dublin formed. What is this rock band I'm talking about. I'm talking about U2. U2 lead singer is Bono who is known to be involved in many causes. Worldwide U2 has sold over 150 million records worldwide. They are known for many singles like "New Year's Day" , "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", " Sunday Bloody Sunday", With Or Without You" and many more singles for this great rock and roll band. U2 has won 22 Grammy Awards and in 2005 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. I enjoy listening to a U2 album. U2's lyrics are filled with social and political commentally while embellished with christian and spiritual imagery. It is very difficult for me not to love this band or their songs. They just constantly continue to put out great music. One song I really enjoyed was "Vertigo". It's fun to turn that song up and listen to it on full blast. What do you think of the rock band U2? Chicago

In 1967 a rock band actually formed in Chicago Illinois was named Chicago. The singer most people would remember from this band would be Peter Cetera. I never really heard of this group until the album Chicago 17. The first song I heard was "Stay The Night". Chicago 17 was the best album I ever heard from this wonderful rock and roll band. Chicago was mostly a soft rock sounded band. Most people probably remember the song "You're The Inspiration". "You're The Inspiration" is one of the most beautiful love songs in rock and roll history. I've met some women who are the Chicago song "Hard Habit To Break". I enjoyed this band mostly in the 80's when I first heard them. In the U.S. this band has sold over 38 million albums. So if you get the chance download songs by Chicago. I would welcome Chicago over a majority of the bands that are out there today. So what are your memories about this band? What are your favorite songs from this band? Share with me your thoughts about this band? Thank you for reading Classic Rock Blog.

Deep Purple: The Band that started in the late sixties with an album out now.

In 1968 an English rock band formed in Hertford. Who is this English rock band? This band of great classic rock and roll is none other than Deep Purple. The song that I believe everyone remembers the most is "Smoke On The Water". Worldwide Deep Purple has sold over 100 million albums. Along with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin Deep Purple is cited as one of the pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal. I really love driving in my car and cranking up the song "Highway Star". An album I really enjoyed in 1990 was called Slaves & Masters. The track I liked the most was "The Cut Runs Deep". I enjoy the screaming at the end of the jam called "Space Truckin". To me that is real good screaming. I never really ever heard of Deep Purple before until I seen a commerical a long time ago advertising an album called "Freedom Rock". Then I decided to buy their greatest hits. It had songs like "Black Night", "Speed King" which that song was exciting and kind of cracked me up a bit. Other great songs were "Strange Kind Of Woman", "Child In Time", "Woman From Tokyo", "Burn" and of course who can forget the great rock classic "Smoke On The Water". One other song I really enjoy is the song "Hush". So if you have any memories you would love to share about this great amazing classic rock and roll band send me your comments. Is there any concerts you've attended? Tell me you're stories. Thank you for reading great classic rock. Also don't forget to check out their new album that came out February 2013 called "Now What". It is a pretty good album. My favorite song from it is "Out Of Hand". If you want the new album you can get it here today. Along with a few other albums.

ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)

How many of you remember the band ELO? They had many great hit songs. One of the greatest rock bands to me of the 70's. They had many great songs that I still listen to today. Many of those songs include the hits "Evil Woman", "Strange Magic" and "Don't Bring Me Down". I find myself sometimes singing the song Strange Magic alot while I'm out walking. The chorus to me is just so catchy and exciting to listen to. From 1971-1986 ELO had released 11 studio albums at this time. ELO has never had a number one single but they hold the record on Billboard Top 100 of having the top 40 singles. I hope those of you who love Classic Rock and listen to the radio listen for a song from ELO. They do have some really great songs. Another song that gets stuck in my head from ELO this amazing seventies rock band is Do Ya. Do Ya Do Ya want my love. In 2001 ELO came out with the album Zoom which I honestly can say I haven't heard it. Have any of you heard it? If you have tell me does it sound as good as their music in the 70's. I thank you for reading my Classic Rock Blog and just for all of you ELO fans within this post you can download some great MP3's from ELO. Keep sending me your comments. I love hearing from you.

Goo Goo Dolls

The band the Goo Goo Dolls was formed in 1986.  They didn't really achieve great success until there fifth album A boy named Goo.  In 1995 many of you who listened to alternative rock would remember the song Name.  I really love this song and think its one of the best songs in alternatve rock.  A Boy named Goo was one of the most succesful alternative rock albums of the 90's.  I remember songs on it like "Name",  "Naked",  "Long Way Down" and "Burning Up".   I remember sitting in my college dorm room and  I would crank up the Goo Goo Dolls.  I would even take my karoke machine and for fun pretend I was the lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls and sing along with the songs.  The Song Long Way Down was in the movie Twister.  That is one of my top favorite songs on the album a Boy Named Goo.  1998 another song named Iris was a big hit for them.  Iris came from the City of Angels soundtrack.   I remember part of the line in the song and I don't want the world to see me because i don't think they'd understand.   Iris was a catchy song but I have to admit I heard it so much when i use to work in a factory that I didn't want to hear it for a long time.  In spite of that though Iris is a cool and a catchy song.   Other songs that are catchy are Slide and Broadway are the two I remember and enjoyed hearing.  I once in a while still like to turn on and listen to some Goo Goo Dolls especially the album A Boy Named Goo.
